I got chills going up and down my spine. I was living a life of bondage. Drinking alcohol, smoking weed and living a pretty sinful life despite that I asked Jesus into my heart when I was 6. Anyways, one day I turned to SBN and featured a late Jimmy Swaggert. I always avoided his shows because of the 80's and the whole controversy concerning him. But, I began hearing him sing and play the piano, and the messages from his songs really moved my spirit. So, I decided to start watching his broadcast. I noticed that this was a changed man. I saw his son, and grandson preaching and their doctrine was very sound. The holy ghost began speaking to me, and I realized that I was no different than Jimmy Swaggert (his earlier years)because I ran around with various men, did drugs, gossiped and acted like the world even though I proclaimed to be Christian. Jesus revealed to me that he was using this man in his ministry. I noticed that Jimmy will tell people how to break the bondage in their lives(at the cross). One day they featured this bible on their broadcast. (Crossfire edition). I had money in the bank and decided to get 2. Once for my 17 year old son and the other for me. Anyway, through the power of the holy ghost miraculously the Lord sent me to a Christian lady in our community. I told her about the bibles that I ordered. She pulled out the expositors study bible(Adult version). and told me that I ordered the teenager versions. About a week later I received the adult version (for myself in the mail). I am astonished because Amazon made a mistake and sent me the adult version. But, Jesus did not make a mistake because he wants me to have the adult version. The crossfire version that I will be receiving in July will be for my son and it is the (Teenager version). Praise God, Glory to his name! He knows what need! I have been using this bible along with another study bible(Nelson Reference edition) and the nelson bible has scripture references to other scripture, and Jimmys bible has the interpretation so between those two bible-The holy spirit has been ministering to me and showing me things that I did not know. The holy Ghost even gave me scripture because my friend was thinking about joining the 7th day advent church, and the holy spirit gave me scripture explaining the Sabbath, that I am going to share with her. But my life is changed. The chains of my addiction lifted and been set free. Praise God!

Easy to Read and Understand

I just purchased this Bible and it's so easy to read and understand. I have another study Bible that has the study portion on the bottom and seperate on each page from the Bible verses on the top. That makes it much harder to read because you're going from top to bottom constantly and losing your place. I purchased the large print edition which is great. It's made of a higher quality paper that you can highlight in without it going through the pages. If you want a Pastors understanding of verses as you read or if buying as a gift for a new Christian to help them along, either way this is a great study Bible.

Excellent and handy textbook. I found the overview of different operations and comparing to a plant design very useful. It covers the required sulphide flotation background and chemistry.

In 1908 easterners Mary Ellicott Arnold and Mabel Reed accepted appointments as field matrons in Karuk tribal communities in the Klamath and Salmon River country of northern California. In doing so, they joined a handful of white women in a rugged region that retained the frontier mentality of the gold rush some fifty years earlier. Hired to promote the federal government’s assimilation of American Indians, Arnold and Reed instead found themselves adapting to the world they entered, a complex and contentious territory of Anglo miners and Karuk families.

In the Land of the Grasshopper Song, Arnold and Reed’s account of their experiences, shows their irreverence towards Victorian ideals of womanhood, recounts their respect toward and friendship with Karuks, and offers a rare portrait of women’s western experiences in this era. Writing with self-deprecating humor, the women recall their misadventures as women “in a white man’s country” and as whites in Indian country. A story about crossing cultural divides, In the Land of the Grasshopper Song also documents Karuk resilience despite seemingly insurmountable odds.

Mary Ellicott Arnold (1876–1968) and Mabel Reed (1876–1962), partners in life and work, were activists known for their foundational work for the cooperative movement, most notably their leadership of the Consumers Cooperative Services. Susan Bernardin is an associate professor of English at SUNY College at Oneonta and a coauthor of Trading Gazes: Euro-American Women Photographers and Native North Americans, 1880–1940. Andr� Cramblit is the operations director for the Northern California Indian Development Council. Terry Supahan is the president of Supahan Consulting Group, which provides guidance to tribes, rural governments, and community development organizations.

A great project-- albeit not long enough

This lively book describes one of the best projects the federal government ever undertook-- hiring two young women to go to "Indian Country"-- in this case the Klamath Mountain region of Northwest California-- to be NICE to the Indians. And that is what they authors did for two years, they made friends with the local people, gave them parties, Christmas presents, and Fourth of July celebrations, played a phonograph for them, rented houses from them, paid them to build houses for them, tried to intercede for them in land disputes and other conflicts, gave classes in the three Rs. According to the authors, the Indians reacted to all this with great enthusiasm, and that's not hard to believe given the treatment they'd been receiving since whites invaded the country in 1852. So it's a great story, although there are longeurs. The authors are very proud of their own accomplishments in learning to ride about the rugged country, and that is exciting at first but it becomes a bit less so since the adventures of crossing the rivers and negotiating the trails have a certain similarity. More information about the region's very diverse native cultures and ecosystems would have been welcome too. Natural history was a common enthusiasm in the early 1900s, and there's some stuff about that, but it's mostly sensationalism about "panthers" and rattlesnakes. Too bad the project didn't last longer.

This is a very special book about two women who, in the early 1900's, traveled to California from New Jersey and went on mule back and foot over the mountains in far northern CA to be Indian matrons with no idea about what a matron should do and lived with the Karuk and Yurok Indians in a warm and fascinating way. Their book is so very worth reading.

This new work in the Daily Life through History series provides a concise overview for anyone needing an introduction to life in post-Roman conquest Britain (the fifth and sixth centuries). Arthurian Britain delves into hard-to-find basic information on economic changes and social and ethnic identity as well as general information about daily living (such as where people worked, what they ate) and dying (common causes of death, burial rituals, etc.). Much of what is known (or believed) about the period is based on legend, as a lack of primary texts leaves many gaps in understanding life in that time. Shepherd, who specializes in early medieval archaeology, has made use of recent archaeological finds as well as the usual primary sources. She spends time within the narrative discussing the importance of the findings of these excavations and how the materials found—including pottery, flora and fauna, and DNA—give us a new window into life during this time. Not what it appears to be

I was looking forward to reading book, thinking someone had finally synthesized the scant information available on post-Roman Dark Ages Britain. As someone who has spent 15 years studying that time period, such a work would be a boon. Unfortunately, this was not it. Maybe 15% of the book is actually focused on the period in which Arthur may have lived, and part of that is because we know so little. But if your book is going to focus primarily on Roman Britain and Anglo-Saxon Britain, as this book does, don't call it a book about Arthurian Britain.

The term ‘Daily Life’ includes how people made a living whether by farming or some other occupation, what types of dwellings they lived in, the social class structure, the use of slaves and serfs, the size of their families, which objects they held in high esteem, and the patterns of interaction or non-interaction between the Britons and the Anglo-Saxons, ‘Daily Life in Arthurian Britain’ also discusses the religions, the forms of governing, and the use of weapons by both the Britons and the Anglo-Saxons.
