Very cool. Excellent introduction to fractals for programmers

Excellent programmer's book with easy source code to understand how to actually DO fractals in C.

However, a lot in the book is devoted to build SVG vectorial and bitmap outputs and save them on disk wich, even if cool, is not at all what I expected from a fractals book, since I only wanted to GENERATE the fractals.
Even so, the book is long enough to explain every aspect of fractal building in a computer and the inner workings of doing so.
I would have liked some explanations on WHY do fractals appear under such conditions, but I suppose that would be the scope of another book entirely. Anyway, a little chapter with some explanations on the why and how of fractals in general terms would have made this book almost perfect. (right now, the book teachs you how to build a fractal, but not why are those fractal patterns apearing from pseudo random points for example. It neither explains what makes those specific patterns special over any other possible pattern.)

What I really liked is everything is explained in plain c code, not in math notation, wich is what I needed :)

Great Book for the 'I'm no Math Genius'

If you have stumbled upon this book and you're asking yourself what a Fractal is and considering clicking the back button, please hear me out. I'm no math genius but after purchasing this book I feel as if I might have more knowledge and confidence in what I know. Now I can't say that Fractals are my new hobby, but they are pretty cool. This book is a great beginner's guide to understanding Fractals and if that doesn't interest you then maybe the pretty pictures, as I call them, at the end of the book will. I had no idea that math could create such wonderful art. If you think that you would have the slightest interest in learning something new, then I would highly suggest this book.

The kindle version does not include picture pages, and it also has a bunch of weird symbols for many words, apparently foreign words originally in Greek or Latin that did not transfer over properly to the kindle version. Not even worth 99 cents; stay away!

As sad as I am to see it end

This series holds such a special place in my heart. As sad as I am to see it end, this final installment was well worth it. All three books in the Children of the Gods series are complete page turners. Jessica is excellent at balancing comedy, action, drama, and romance perfectly. Nothing is over powering, making it the perfect series for everybody. This final book left my blood pumping from the excitement. One of my favorite factors of Jessica's writing is her ability to balance an abundance of characters. 90% of the time, if a book series has as many characters as this series has, I find myself forgetting names, people, why they're there, ect. Not with this series. I could remember everybody, who they were and what their names were(the character list in the back definitely helps).I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys realistic fantasy, greek mythology, or books. This series truly has something for everyone. Now, I'm going to dive into some spoilers. If you don't want to be spoiled, go away. Go read Redemption, and enjoy it!

Welcome to my mess. This is the part I simply rant about the story. The following isn't organized. Sorry!

WOW. Wow wow wow. Okay. I cried. I laughed. I threw my phone. Ebooks can be a little unsafe for that poor phone.
Going into this book, I had one thing in mind, Wills memories. "Despite the memory loss, he still had the same kind spirit." I had no idea what to expect with this. Would he be getting his memories back? Would he be a little more loving towards Ellie after he gets to know her again? What was going to happen? And then there's the whole aspect of Elyse being pregnant with the oracle! Then little Sarah is born and all is wonderful and fantastic. Nope. Its not. In order to keep Sarah(who is named after Ellie's mother), Ellie has to send her away and hope for the best. That includes Will leaving! That part had me pretty worried if I'm being honest.
Skip ahead a bit and Will is back. Him and Ellie keep sneaking off to visit Sarah. Cute little family happiness.
Destruction! With descendants no longer hiding themselves and their abilities, the world is worried and scared. War breaks out in the cities and Elyse is determined to put an end to it as she sees that neither the humans or descendants are innocent. She puts her healing abilities to use when countless people are hurt.
Elyse goes to visit Sarah only to find out that Sarah has been taken. The only way of getting her back is to assassinate the president. Ill tell you what, I was not expecting her to go through with it. But I loved that she did. Not everything can go perfectly and be resolved before you have to do something you wish you didn't. It actually happening kept the story in the more realistic side of the spectrum.
The epilogue had me so happy. Seeing that these humans and descendants were finally living together was so exciting. Everything that happened leading up to that peace was all worth it. Nothing was in vain.
"They join hands, human and descendant, and duck under the water together. And there it is. My redemption."

In Redemption, (Book 3 of the Children of the Gods series) Elyse lives to fulfill the prophecy linked to her. Now that Christoph is out of the picture the Descendants are free to reveal their true identities. But some humans simply aren’t ready to accept the Descendants, and war ensues. Chaos becomes the norm where even friends cannot be trusted, families are torn apart, and cities are destroyed. But Elyse strives to bring peace and harmony to a world that is groaning under the strain of so much change and confusion.

The Children of the Gods trilogy is an exciting collection of young adult fantasy fiction. Readers are sure to get swept away in this fantastic series. To get the full impact and understanding of the story, one really must read all the books in this series beginning with Oppression. There are multiple sub-stories woven throughout, leading to a fabulous and unexpected ending.

Perfect end to this trilogy

I was not disappointed with the finale of this trilogy. Redemption kept me intrigued between scenes of action and emotional angst. The characters have grown and changed, learning and accepting pain, loss, and above all: hope.

I've read a lot of books like this in my life

I've read a lot of books like this in my life. Seriously - A LOT. From Tony Robbins to Zig Ziglar to Brian Tracey to Jim Rohn to Napolean Hill to some other people that aren't that well known, it's been a hobby of mine for a long time.

It's a big statement, but Lisa's book is one of the best that I've read about this because leaping into the proverbial fire, out of a plane, or joining a public speaking course isn't something that is right for everyone - especially when you don't really need to do that every day.

Confidence is a mindset that we can teach ourselves - it's not always the absence of doubt, fear and uncertainty or knowing that everything is going to be ok. It's about taking steps to reaffirm that we're strong enough to succeed despite those things in our mind that hold us back - and Lisa does a brilliant job of guiding us through the process of taking action to achieve extraordinary results without needing to be extraordinarily outrageous with our actions.

Thank you, Lisa! I'm sure I'll end up buying this book and giving it away to friends in need several times.

A Great Book on Confidence

Warm, funny, personable, down-to-earth and honest. Those are just a few of the words I’d use to describe the tone of Lisa Phillips’ book The Confidence Coach: Take Control of your life and Wellbeing.
Lisa taps her experience as a life coach, and as a person who at one time was trapped in a mental prison caused by her own lack of confidence, to show you how you can also free yourself of that prison and make real, positive change in your life.
From self-image to planning goals for the future to dealing with personality conflicts, Lisa guides you through those situations and helps you see a positive way to move forward with positive personal development.
I found this book incredibly useful and feel that I read it at exactly the right time in my life.
