I had this book once and my father sold it with a table full for 20.00 10 years ago. Well I finally found a copy and bought it! I loved this story back then, and I love it today, 10 years later.
Adam and Andrea are young teenagers (Adam 16 and Andrea 14) in love before the Congress demands Cherokee Indian Removal in Georgia. Not only do we get to see Adam and Andrea's love blossom, but also last and endure through the hardships all Indian's faced as the "Trail of Tears" happens, all the way to Indian hardships in the western Indian Territory, and every across the borders to white slavery in Mexico. We even get to see their love come full circle in the end!
It's a love story mixed in with well documented history of how the Georgia Militia and the state of Georgia itself as well as Congress treated the Indians before, during and after the "Trail of Tears".
If you want a very well rounded story of romance in historical times GET THIS BOOK! It will make you laugh, cry and LOVE. F. Rosanne Bittner creates main characters in her stories that you love and villans that you love to hate. She uses well-documented history and quotes as a backdrop for her stories.

Heart's Surrender is a novel focusing on the removal of Indians from Georgia and the struggle the Cherokee's went through.It becomes evident who the true savages were and how bad the Indians were treated.
Adam and Andrea's struggle through the Indian Removal tells of their breathtaking love for each other and how love can overcome all the heartache surrounding them.References are also made to the 'Trail of Tears' which is full of despair itself.
Heart's Surrender reflects how strong the Indian's spirit or soul is and how everything around them is sacred.
If you like a well structured romance novel capturing the love of 2 people who would go through anything as long as they have each other along with references to what happened to the native americans during this tragic era then this is the novel for you?

BEST BITTNER BOOK EVER!

This was the very first book I ever read from this author and I literally cried on some parts, it was so touching and heart wrenching. The unbelievable story between the hero and heroine keep you turning the pages until its over. This book is full of adventure and rich in Cherokee history. The love story between Andrea and Adam is so sweet and touching it will bring tears to your eyes and make you fall in love with Adam and Andrea. The things he suffers makes you wish you could step into the book and help him. I HIGHLY recommend this book. Rosanne's writing is superb. She brings her characters to life, and the history and surroundings. Even though it's out of print now, track a copy of this book down, it's a must read.

Destination Eden is clearly one of the true spiritual-ethical books everyone needs to read in order to awaken and understand what our true biological diet and lifestyle needs are. If we are to survive as a species and co-exist with other beings, we need to understand that "Eden Fruitarian", as Mango Wodzak coined, is what we need to embrace in our lives if we want to create a world of peace and love. No longer can we argue against the fact, that eating food from the Garden of Eden is what our bodies' are biologically designed for. A highly recommended book for everyone.

Very well-written and important read on a complex and often misunderstood topic. Still not sold on the idea that people should eat *exclusively* fruit, but I do think its significance has been downplayed and that its availability/accessibility needs to be increased. I especially appreciated, as a vegan, that this author spoke to the fact that veganism is NOT a diet-- it is a philosophy that encompasses many, many essential lifestyle changes and, more importantly than any of these, a radical shift in perspective on how we relate to nonhuman animals.

Good for a question book, but better board review options are out there

As far as practice question books go, this is right on the money. There's tons of practice questions, split up by clerkship (which helps if you're studying for shelf exams). The explanations are good at showing not only why the correct answer is correct, but why the other options are wrong. I didn't give it 5 stars since the questions are a bit on the shorter side compared to the real board. But other than that, it's good review.

Actually, my biggest complaint is not with the book per se, but that if you're serious about practicing for the boards, you're better off going with an online qbank. While they're more expensive than this Qbook, you get much more content, better explanations, and you can tailor your studying to your weak areas.

But as far as QBooks go, I'd recommend this one.

Good and loved the price

I love doing practice questions (much better than reading review books), so when I saw this one and the good price, I had to have it. While going through the questions, I didn't notice many mistakes or typos, and the topics seemed fairly similar to the real thing.

I ended up only studying from this Qbook and 1 other review book before Step 2. My hope was to avoid having to buy other materials (specifically I didn't want to shell out for another online question bank). Although I didn't feel too great on the day of the test, I ended up with a good score (>245).

Useful for the Step 2CK!

I own the 2009 edition of this book, so I'm going to review that. While I didn't use the book as my primary question source (it is strongly advisable to use one of the popular online qbanks (Usmle World/Kaplan/Usmle Rx) for that as they are more thorough), this book was very useful to me during the last few weeks of my step 2CK to help me assess my "readiness".

According to an online seminar of Kaplan Medical I once heard, Dr. Steven Daugherty (author of the study skills and exam strategies section included in this book) mentioned that if you consistently score (in multiple blocks in timed format) between 60-65% correct you are going to either get a low pass or borderline fail; between 65-70% you are going to pass; and greater than 70% you are going to score high. So this qbook was very helpful to me in giving me my percentage scores of each subject discipline as I did them in a timed manner.

But to get a more accurate idea of my score, I used First Aid's Step 2CK Q&A which has an 8 block exam to simulate the exam experience (in addition to questions according to organ system/subject wise). This was also a good resource that I used during my last week before the exam. I did 4 blocks from the simulation exam and scored 66%. I also did the latest free 3 block exam from the USMLE website and scored 72%. I scored well on the actual exam.

Most people use NBMEs to give them their predictive score to assess their exam readiness and that can be helpful. I also used them. But I found the percent scale system of Dr. Daugherty much more reliable and useful. As long as you are consistently scoring between 65-70% you will pass and if you are consistently scoring more than 70%, you will kill this exam.

Speaking of Dr. Daugherty, he has a VERY USEFUL website with free information on how to tackle the USMLEs (it is usmlethought.com - be sure to add the www!). His exam strategies included in this qbook were very helpful to me even though I did not follow those suggestions of his that didn't work with my studying/exam taking style. The most useful take home message that Dr. Daugherty gives in this book and his website is that the Steps are two fold:

1. They test your understanding of medical knowledge and your skill to reason and think like a physician in clinical vignette setting; and

2. They test your test-taking skills - your ability to pace yourself and maintain your concentration for 8 to 9 hours. Timing and concentration is KEY to doing well on this exam.

Overall, this book was useful to me. Hence, I give it 5 stars!

Buy this book if you've been asked to investigate translation/localization and don't know where to start

This is a great, concise introduction to the topic. I got this book when I started to investigate translation/localization of my technical product content, and this book allowed me to have much more productive meetings with localization contractors. I knew what to look for in a localization contractor, what to avoid, and what goals we'd be pursuing.

I wish I had this book when I worked on translation projects. Seriously, I do. I made a lot of mistakes, and those could have been avoided. Val's book covers everything we need to know, along with those sneaky gotchas that can cause much pain and grief once we've jumped into the process unaware. She writes about how to prepare content for translation, how to choose a translation vendor, what to do if we can't use a translation vendor, how translation memory works, tips on selecting translation tools, how to work with content teams on global projects, and much more. This book is an investment and will save a lot of money in the long run on translation projects.

I had a chance to read an advance copy of this book, and I love it. Great information, strong fundamentals, concise best practices, and even funny. (Val has a great sense of humor.) If you want to have a solid understanding on what is involved in running a stellar Global Content Marketing program, gain the ability to have intelligent conversation on creating your own program, avoid the pitfalls, and only have 30 minutes, this is the perfect book. It has as much useful information as an all-day workshop. A "Must Read" for anyone venturing into managing content on an International scale.

If you like scary stories, this collection is for you! Written in a style that is archaic now, but beautifully done. Great one to keep around for guests who only have a few hours to read.

A must have for any apologist

I engage in quite a few online theological debates and keep a copy of this in the book cover of my Bible (Yes Catholics not only own Bibles we read them as well)
This is an invaluable reference.
There are over 100 verse citations defending Catholic dogma and doctrines and showing how each of them is entirley scriptural.
Items that it covers are The Eucharist, Petrine primacy, all seven of the Sacraments, Marian doctrines and even Priestly celibacy.

While it does not cover any of these exhaustively it is not intended to do so. It is meant to be used as a handy reference and it packs quite a bit of informationon to both sides of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of laminated paper.
The type face is a bit small, but that just means that more information is available.

One thing I did that worked out well for me was to higlight the first verse in my Bible then then list the other verses in the columns and highlight them so that they were all chained together for quick reference

Must-have

Never struggle in using the Bible to explain the Catholic faith. Many forget the historical fact that the canon of Scripture was decided by Catholic Bishop's conference and stamped with approval by the Pope. Acceptance of the Bible as Divinely inspired is implicit agreement that the Catholic Bishops and Pope were inspired as well.

Defending the Christian faith made easy!

This "Bible Cheat Sheet" will help any Christian understand the truths of the Catholic faith! The font is incredibly small, probably 7 or 8 point. They however are jamming so much information on this two-sided 8x10 piece of paper it can be forgiven.

I was disappointed seeing the "NO REPRODUCTION" warning. This is exactly the document you would assume Jim Burnham and his organization would want reproduced (and handed out). Also, I don't believe this is an original list. These scripture "cheat sheets" have been available all over the internet for years. They are also very similar to what I've seen previous written by Jimmy Akin (in his Salvation Controversy book) and John Salza on his "Scripture Catholic" website.

One last note, unless you have an unusually large bible, it won't fit, so you will have to take the time to transfer the information to your bible (which should provide you a nice bible study)!
