Awesome story! Just too short...

What a great read! In this story, Chapel gives the reader first person narrative from both two protagonists. I love this device - you see both sides of the story while also getting a great feel for the personalities of each character. The "inside" look of both protagonists was rich and unique - I loved, LOVED Whit, and Tucker was a beautiful mess - so my only complaint about the book is that it was TOO SHORT. I wanted more! I felt this about Chapel's Marine stories too, though at least we got two of those. Janey Chapel - please write longer books.

Chapel's spare style is wonderful and more than so many women authors in this genre, she seems to capture what men would actually do and say (I am tired of women authors who portray gay men like sterotypical "girls" - and I'm a woman, so don't mean for this comment to impugn my own sex, but still...) I like reading stories where men are men and love each other. This was one such story, I just wish it were longer!

Cute with just a touch of angst!

I liked this story very much. I enjoyed the fact that Tucker was so torn over his actions and his feelings for Whit. I loved how Whit was so 'confident' according to Tucker but really admitted is was because of Tucker. But what I liked most about it is that Whit made Tucker realize what he was missing. Even if it did take a decade.

While I enjoyed the story, I wasn't fond of the writing style. It's told in alternating first person POV's and while I liked that we got to experience things from both Whit and Tucker's POV, I'm just not a fan of this style.

Besides that, I really loved the story. These boys made me laugh over their sparse bickering and created just enough angst for me to stick with the story without being too much. Definitely recommended.

And it's a quick read too! Perfect for someone who's looking to just pass an hour or so with a good book! ;)

Loved It!

Read this book!! I loved everything about this one and am adding it to my "favorites" shelf. The first person POV switches back and forth between the two main characters, so we get to experience their thoughts and emotions as they react to seeing one another again after all these years. The tension builds so beautifully, when they finally come together it is extremely satisfying. Now THAT is how you write a love scene!

I'm definitely going to check out more of this author's work.

Real Gears for the Real Gear Head

This book proved to be slightly over simplified to me as a designer. However, in today's world, I am just thankful that someone takes the time to set a subject down on real paper, that I don't have to read a screen blurry eyed until midnight to get the one or two facts I'm looking for. Apologies to the Kindle people; call me a dinosaur.

A great manga starter book

I received this book as a gift from my sister, I like to draw and I love manga so I was curious about it and started it immediately. The introduction mainly tells you about the history of manga, different types of manga, and then you get different art techniques and tips which was actually really helpful, before a big section with over 100 lessons on drawing different parts of the anatomy, and then lessons on drawing everything you learned into a character! It even has a game to integrate different styles.

Pros:
1. It's very well laid out and easy to follow, I'm not naturally talented, but the book is not confusing for me and the steps are all there, no "Draw a circle - now draw the rest of the owl" type stuff. Very clear instructions, line by line drawing, techniques, everything that can actually show you how to get from point A. to point B. And with your own work!

2. Everything is adorable. Usually when you buy a how-to-draw book it's a little bit intimidating, but this one's very easy going, the art is fun and very well done, and adds to the instructions rather than just being there to show you how much the artist is better than you.

3. I really like that the artist has a YouTube channel with additional instructions

4. The information on drawing eyes, hands, and faces is really extensive, more so than I was expecting. Because these are all difficult parts for me, the extra time and lessons were very much appreciated.

5. The book is surprisingly big, there are lots of lessons. It says 128 pages but every page is huge, and you get drawing lessons on each one.

6. The game is a lot of fun, and really great if you're like me and don't know what to draw

7. I can definitely draw manga characters using this book

Cons:
1. I will have to buy more art supplies. The tips on inking and different types of pencils really make me want to up my game.
2. While there are a ton of lessons, I do wish it had a bit more information on drawing outfits,

10/10 would buy again. I'm already seeing improvements on my manga style, and I can't wait to keep practicing.

I love it

I don't have a lot of experience with how to draw manga books but this one is exactly what I was hoping for! I think it's worth the money just for the art if you like chibis and manga. Cute drawings on every page.The fire athlete is so hot! The instructions are easy to follow, lots of step by step and I didn't get lost once, and everything was so much fun, I really wish I could go get in person lessons now. I follow Mistiqarts on YouTube which is why I pre-ordered it and then it arrived a full month before it said it would ship. I was really surprised by how big the book is, it says it's only 128 pages but there are a LOT of lessons and they're all really big and easy to see, not like the little pocket drawing guides you see a lot. Super excited so far and I can't wait to draw something else.

Informative, Useful, and Accessible

Easily one of the best books on breaking down Stanislavsky's system in a useful way.

It's not so much that there is anything necessarily new for those who are already familiar with Stanislavsky, but it is the approach that Dr. Merlin takes to present the material in a very accessible and organized way and her ability to perhaps correct some misconceptions about Stanislavsky and his views on the art of acting.

The toolkit is just that - tools for an actor (or director or student or whomever) to evaluate and use when needed. Merlin does not preach Stanislavsky's system as gospel, and neither did Stanislavsky himself. Instead this book becomes your kit full of "trays" of various tools that may or may not come in handy when an acting challenge arises. Some tools you may like and use all of the time without fail, others you may leave in the toolkit in favor of supplementing/replacing with a different approach from another source that works as a better tool for you.

It is the ease of attitude and frankness with the material that won me over with this book and Merlin's personal take on some of the tools that she has found useful or not useful in her own career.

Stanislavsky is too often misunderstood because of our own narrowness to pick and choose segments of his writings and take them out of context without evaluating the entire scope of his ideology - he was a brilliant pioneer in the advancement of the art of acting and Merlin does an excellent job of conveying his spirit through her thoughtful book and transforming his ideas into manageable tools that are so useful for any theatre practitioner today.

A review of the book, not the belief system

Books like this frequently encounter distorted reviews from people that are not reviewing the book itself but are offering an opinion on the validity of the belief system. Therefore my review will be a review of the book, and how effectively it provides what it attempted to provide, and will not be a review of the validity of the belief system one way or the other.

Something I hear from quite a few people who are interested in becoming practitioners of this belief system is a desire for very clear application steps and exercises to help facilitate the process of effectively visualizing what it is they wish to attract.

I believe this book provides exactly that. The book describes a wide range of practical exercises that one can employ to attempt to attract their desires. There will be exercises for people that are motivated by visual cues, audible cues, kinesthetic, etc.

Each exercise is explained clearly and concisely, as is the rationale behind each one of them and how it applies to effectively applying the concepts of the Law of Attraction belief system.

It can easily be used as an effective reference book, with any desired piece of information being very easy to find.

I noticed the book does refer to youtube links in the mind movie section, and it is certainly possible that those links will not always work as youtube videos are very subject to being taken down. I do hope the author has accounted for this, at least in the kindle version and intends to update those links as necessary.

Wow is all I can say! This book is so incredibly helpful and most importantly PRACTICAL!! This book is like gold mine for anyone who is ready to change their life. I have read several books on the LOA and watched several movies. I know the content very well but like most others I found it to be a little impractical. With these thirty exercises, they help to bridge the gap with practicing the LOA. I love that each exercise can be applied to each area of your life. There are so easy to do, yet they will have a profound impact on your life! I'm excited to implement these changes and I want to say thank you to Ms. Shapely. I appreciate this book!

This Book Works!!!

I'm not even halfway through the book, but I've been practicing the exercises that resonate with me so far and the changes I've seen come into my life have been astounding. I'm making money with little effort on my part and I've gone from seeing my dream of owning my own business as a goal that I have for 3 years from now to 3 months from now.

Not only are these exercises easy to do (they take no time and they're fun), I feel like I'm on Cloud 9 which is speeding everything up. I love it!

Of course I'm a human being so I still have negative thoughts. There are people who aren't my favorite, situations I don't love, and I'm not a morning person. But I can laugh about these things now and I'm able to see the good in the people who I struggle to interact with; what's even better is that those interactions become fewer and fewer as time goes on.

If you are stuck in your LOA, definitely invest in this book. I've only been reading it for 4 days and what's come into my life blows me away!
